CATCH Neighborhood Housing kicked off its 30th year by hosting everyone’s favorite political satirists to raise funds for affordable housing! On Thursday, March 28th the Capitol Steps performed for CATCH’s 25th Annual Comedy Night fundraiser and brought down the house.
This year, the audience enjoyed songs from the Steps’ latest album, Make America Grin Again, which included songs like “Pence is from Heaven” and “76 Unknowns” and favorites like “The Supremes (Stayin’ Alive!)” While many of the characters were the same, the actors who portrayed Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi, and Bernie Sanders all had lots of new things to sing about!
Prior to the Capitol Steps taking the stage, CATCH hosted its annual pre-show reception which welcomed friends and guests to celebrate CATCH’s accomplishments in the past year. People’s United Bank was recognized as the Business of the Year for their endless support of CATCH and over $180,000 in financial investments over the years. Cary Gladstone, longtime CATCH board member and housing advocate, accepted the Volunteer of the Year award. Mainstay Technologies received the Rising Star Award for their many contributions to their community and their ongoing support of CATCH. The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation was celebrated as the Helen M. Greene Visionary Award winner for their significant impact on the nonprofit community throughout the state. Cary Gladstone accepted the Housing Hero Award on behalf of Elissa Margolin of Housing Action NH, who tirelessly advocates for families and housing organizations at the statehouse day after day.
Overall, the event raised over $65,000 for CATCH’s affordable housing programs! CATCH wishes to thank all ticket purchasers, raffle ticket purchasers, the many sponsors, and community supporters for making Comedy Night a great success.
