CATCH Neighborhood Housing hosted the hilariously relevant Capitol Steps for the 23rd Annual CATCH Comedy Night on Friday, March 3 at the Capitol Center for the Arts.
Known for their unique political, musical satire, the Capitol Steps brought down the house with their latest take on current events. The 5 performers and piano accompanist amused the crowd with renditions of “Putin on a Blitz,” “If We Only Had a Brain Surgeon,” “Trump Acres,” “The Supremes/Stayin Alive,” and “Ebony and Ovaries.”
Now in its 23rd year, Comedy Night is CATCH Neighborhood Housing’s annual fundraiser that encourages laughter in the name of affordable, workforce housing for the Capitol region. This year proved a tremendous success and raised over $70,000 for CATCH’s affordable housing programs!
Prior to the Steps’ performance, CATCH hosted a pre-show reception for supporters and friends, and recognized the accomplishments of the last year.
“CATCH touches the lives of over 1,200 people every year,” said CATCH President, Rosemary M. Heard. “Thanks to your support, more people in our communities can live in safe, affordable homes and develop the skills necessary to buy a home. We could not do this without you.”
Heard then presented the 2017 Housing Hero Award to Officer Thomas W. Yerkes, Jr. of the City of Concord Police Department, the Rising Star Award to Rob Dapice of New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, the Business of the Year Award to North Branch Construction, the Volunteer of the Year Award to Charles F. Gerhan, Jr., and the Helen M. Greene Visionary Award to Todd Workman of PermaCityLife in Franklin.
